PARS (Pre-Arrival Review System) and PAPS (Pre-Arrival Processing System) are customs clearance processes used for shipments crossing the Canada–U.S. border. PARS is used for goods entering Canada, allowing the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) to review documents in advance. PAPS is used for shipments entering the United States, enabling U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to pre-process cargo information. Both systems use barcoded shipment control numbers to link submitted documents with the physical shipment. By submitting required information before arrival, carriers experience faster border crossings, fewer delays, and increased efficiency. These systems are essential for smooth, compliant cross-border transportation.
